About the Year

After no traveling in 2010, Alicia and I were looking forward to taking back to the skies again in 2011. In February, I landed a new job with an airline. Due to buying a house during the year, we ended up traveling less than originally thought. We took a day trip to Los Angeles in March, and we visited Las Vegas twice. The highlight was our frequent visits to Houston to visit family.

Los Angeles

For our first trip of the year, we took a day trip to Los Angeles. Never before had I flown somewhere and come back on the same day. And while it was an early morning to catch our 7:30 am flight, it was well worth it. Upon arriving, we went to the Santa Monica Pier, where we walked around for a bit, watched some dolphins a couple hundred feet off the end of the pier, and ate lunch. We then spent a couple hours at the Getty Museum. It was good to be back in California!

Las Vegas

We visited Las Vegas twice during the last quarter of the year. In October, I had a business meeting in Las Vegas. Alicia came out toward the end of the trip, and we stayed for two more nights. The highlight of the short stay was seeing The Beatles: Love show. The banner at the top of the page comes from this first visit.

Our second trip came two days before Christmas. We just went for the day to see how the casinos were decorated for Christmas. Three really stood out: Venetian, Bellagio, and Wynn. From top to bottom, left to right, the photos are from: Venetian, Wynn, Mirage, and Bellagio.

Houston Photographs

April 23 - Alicia and I met our twin nieces for the first time when we made our first trip to Houston on Easter weekend. It didn't take long for Alicia to make a connection with Evie.

May 30 - During our Memorial Day weekend visit, we went to the zoo with my parents and sister's family. Here Bella and Kristen check out the new Chimpanzee exhibit. Unfortunately, moments later one of the Chimps charged straight at Bella, crashing into the glass just in front of her. Bella was not too happy to say the least.

July 15 - Alicia and I at the Rainforest Pyramid at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.
