Hawaii - The 9th hole green at Wailea Old Blue
About the banner

The 9th hole, playing uphill and facing Haleakula, is a straight forward par-3. Two ponds front left don't come into play. The difficulty depends on the pin placement, as there is the option to tuck the pin on the right side just behind the bunker. I played a 7 iron and took it over the front right bunker, leaving about a 20 foot putt for birdie. I two putted for my second par of the day.

April 24 - Golf at Wailea Old Blue

It doesn’t get much better than golf in Hawaii. On our first full day in Maui, I played Wailea Old Blue, the oldest course in the south Maui area. I chose this course due to its wide fairways. After all, I was on vacation. However, I would have to contend with the Hawaiian winds on the day, which certainly impacted club selection.

Other than two drives out of bounds on holes four and five, I played solid. Not great, but solid.

Shot of the Day

On the 13th hole, I pushed my second shot into the right, greenside bunker. I had a little green to work with, but I was about five feet below the green and deep bunkers are not my specialty. I played a nice shot just onto the green and releasing past the hole to about 10 feet. I was very pleased with that result, even though I missed the par putt.

Scorecard

Here are the results. I played from the white tees. The par 72 course measures 6397 yards with a rating/slope of 70.3/123.
