About the YearI went into the year looking forward to two big trips: San Diego in June for the U.S. Open, and Oregon/Canada later in the summer. Both of these trips turned out to be memorable in their own way. The U.S. Open was quite an experience, and I recommend any big golf fan to attend one of these tournaments. But you definitely don't see as much as you would on television. The crowds were huge all four days, making it difficult to follow any the players. But to be at Tiger Woods' historic win (even if I didn't go to the playoff on Monday) was quite an experience. The trip to Vancouver, Victoria, and the Oregon Coast was one of my favorite vacations ever (not quite as good as Hawaii in 2004, but pretty close). Finally, I can't leave out seeing Rush in late April in Albuquerque, as the Canadian trio put on another incredible show.

ALLTEL Show Car - February 2008One of the ALLTEL show cars made it's way to the El Paso Call Center in late February, shortly after Ryan Newman won the Dayton 500 in the ALLTEL race car. In addition to the car being on site, there was a tire changing contest where the winner with the lowest time would win a trip to Phoenix for an upcoming NASCAR race. ![]() San Diego - June 2008In addition to going to the U.S. Open golf tournament on four days, we visited the San Diego Zoo and went to a Padres/Dodgers baseball game. I enjoyed the entire trip, but I was thrilled to go to a baseball game as Dad and I went to many Padre games during the six years growing up in San Diego. We ate at Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy after the first round of the golf tournament; for Alicia and I it was our second time visiting the Italian gem, and we enjoyed it just as much this time. ![]() Vancouver, Victoria, and the Oregon Coast - July & August 2008In late July and early August, Alicia and I spent a little over a week traveling through Southwestern Canada and the Oregon coast. Check out these pages dedicated to this trip, featuring videos as well as photos. |
Other Photographs![]() September 27 - We hosted our employees and their families for our annual picnic on Sunday, September 27. It was an indoor picnic, and in addition to the food and games at the picnic we also had an award presentation. We turned the presentation into a skit, and while we faced many logistical problems which impacted the presentation, one of the highlights was the salespersons. I played the Sprint guy and grew my hair out for the occasion (yeah right...it's a wig). |
