About the Year

Alicia and I took a lot of short trips throughout the year. The year started off with a four day trip to San Diego. In the summer, we visited Houston for my sister's wedding and we spent extended weekends escaping the heat in Prescott and Pinetop. Throw in my first business trip to Little Rock in September, and we were in a lot of places throughout the year.

San Diego - February 2005

Alicia and I started off the year by taking our second trip to San Diego. Our first trip had been nearly four years ago. We traveled by car on the previous trip. This time we went by plane, and we were passengers on the very first commercial flight of a brand new Boeing 737-700. On this trip we visited the Wild Animal Park, took a whale watching cruise, and ate at some smaller restaurants. Unfortunately, the whale watching cruise turned out to be no fun for either of us due to rough seas. Other than that, it was a great trip despite the rainy weather.

Houston - June 2005

In June we went to Houston for my sister's wedding. While in town, we visited the Johnson Space Center, the Kemah Boardwalk, Downtown Aquarium, and more. Of course the highlight of the trip was the wedding. After a great ceremony we celebrated at the same location where Doug and Kristen met. It used to be a jazz club but had since been turned into a reception hall.

Prescott - July 2005

In 2005 I joined a golf club at my father-in-law's recommendation. The July tournament was in Prescott. We all decided to turn it into a two night stay at the historic Hassayampa Inn. I enjoyed the charm of the 100+ year inn; Alicia didn't enjoy it as much as the rooms were small. But we all had a great time celebrating July 4th weekend with temperatures about 15 degrees cooler than Phoenix.

Pinetop - July 2005

A week after Prescott, Alicia and I joined her family up in Pinetop. While her family stayed the entire week, Alicia and I went up for the first half. While there we played a lot of golf, had some great meals, and even got in a little bowling.

Little Rock - September 2005

In September I spent two full days in Little Rock on a business trip. It was more than just work during those two days; I wanted to check the area out as much as possible to see if I could relocate as our Corporate Headquarters are located there. I liked what I saw during these two days. The forested, rolling hill landscape was a great change from the Phoenix desert.
